2011 expectations
In 2011 the Rams Franchise will no longer ask for a player fee. Instead we will ask that you assist us with bigger fundraising. Please stay tuned for fundraising opportunities!
Practice jerseys for players will be offered at $15/piece and socks for $5/pair. Cheerleaders will be asked to pay for their uniforms and socks. The Rams franchise will be providing poms for the cheerleaders.
Every dollar you spend on/for the Rams Franchise goes directly to our kids. Thank you for your continued financial support.
More information regarding purchase amounts and times will be available beginning at our May 16th kick-off. It is also hoped that you will be able to purchase (and receive) fanwear beginning in May.
What if I miss the deadline for TCYFL registration for my child?
TCYFL states that they do not allow late sign ups.
What if we move to the area after the registration cut-off?
We’d love to have you join. Please contact the Franchise Head Coach so he can petition to the TCYFL.
Why do cheerleaders have the same cut-off as players?
Registration deadlines are set by TCYFL, not our Franchise If you are late and your child is interested, please let the Franchise Coordinator know.
How will gear check out work?
Once the player gets to the warehouse, parents fill out a form. The player will go through the warehouse to get his or her gear. The parents will meet their player on the other side to go through the equipment and sign that they received all pieces requested.
How do we return the gear?
We will be working with the team parents to get all of the gear collected at the team party at the end of the season. This worked so well last season that we are the only Franchise that turned in all our gear to TCYFL. NICE WORK PARENTS!!!
When and where is Practice?
On August 1st at Chinook Middle School we ask that players and cheerleaders come from 6:00-7:30pm. At this meeting we will make sure all the player gear fits, answer any questions you may have, introduce all players/cheerleaders to their coaches and provide you with an opportunity to purchase Pizza Time pizza for dinner. All proceeds from this dinner will go to our general budget.
There will be an opportunity to purchase fanwear and sign up as a sponsor.
Regular practice for players and cheerleaders will begin on August 3, 2010. Practice will be T-W-Th at Chinook Middle School from 5:30-7:30pm until the light begins to change and we are forced to move the start time earlier.
Once school begins, many teams move to 2 days of practice per week. Each coach will call his own practice schedule from then, but we encourage the coaches to have the same time and days for the remainder of the season.
On Wednesday nights we host a fundraiser dinner. Each week we will switch between Pizza Time pizza and hotdogs/hamburgers. Each team will host one night and we start on the first Wednesday of practice and continue through mid-October or until the weather holds.
MANY of our families treat practice time as a social time. We love that! We encourage you to connect with the other parents and watch your child. TCYFL has strict rules about who is allowed on the fields. Therefore we ask that you remain on the sidelines and let the coaches work.
At each practice through good weather we will sell fanwear. There is also an opportunity to purchase water and beefsticks.
Click here for a map of practice locations.
How will weigh-in work this year?
Players will have an unofficial weigh in at their gear check-out. There will be an official weigh-in at the Jamboree. There will be a re-weigh in before the playoff games begin.
What is the jamboree?
The jamboree is a bunch of scrimmages. You do not need to be there the entire day. Your coach will let you know how early to show up for the first scrimmage to “weigh-in” for the official roster. Each team will play one scrimmage on offense and one scrimmage on defense. There will be 4 teams on the field (thus the north and south). It is a day to have fun and for the kids get their feet wet.
What is the average cost of a cheer uniform?
The basic cheer uniform is approximately $80. There are additional cold weather pieces available for approximately $40.
What is the big huddle at the beginning of practice?
ALL players will meet for the first 10 minutes with our Franchise Head Coach, Joe Stinton, as a large group. Please be on time! If you need carpool help, just let us know.
On Tuesdays we award one person (player or cheerleader) our Ram Coin. This coin is awarded for above and beyond - that can occur at home, at school, in the community or on the field. Parents are encouraged to let the Franchise Head Coach or Franchise Coordinator know if they have a nomination. Nominations are due the Sunday prior and only one coin is given each Tuesday during the season.
What are the additional cost expectations for a player?
Players will need to purchase a girdle, cleats and practice jersey.
What are the fundraising expectations?
We ask that you participate as much as possible. We need all the help we can get to supply items for our cheerleaders and players. Most of the fundraising efforts will have a great prize at the end!
What is the difference between TCYFL and the Rams Franchise?
Thurston County Youth Football is the football and cheer foundation. Fees paid to TCYFL are for football player uniform & gear, fields, insurance and league administrative costs (equipment warehouse facility, supplies, phone, etc).
The Rams Franchise is one of many organizations underneath TCYFL. The Rams Franchise is specifically geared towards kids in the North Thurston High School boundaries. The Rams Franchise is responsible for its own operating costs, first-aid kits, training and practice equipment, etc. VOLUNTEERS such as coaches, team coordinators, treasurer and board members are selected from our own set of parents. If you are interested in any of these positions, please let us know.
